Thompson’s Master’s Thesis examined the relationship between the culture of college students and faculty and the perceived culture as delineated by a governmental board of trustees. Thompson worked to demonstrate that the presence of certain monuments related to the Lost and Won Causes in public spaces bore no direct relation to the individuals who occupy those spaces. As he progresses in his academic journey, Thompson remains keenly interested in the memory landscape of college campuses. Additionally, with an increasing focus on archival and library sciences, Thompson is contemplating the historical processes undertaken by Southern university libraries in the desegregation of their collections, particularly in relation to the universities’ broader desegregation efforts.
